Strengthening Regional Cooperation to Counter Sanctions Evasion and Emerging Threats in Southeast Asia
In November 2025, UNICRI convened a three-day regional workshop on United Nations Security Council WMD sanctions regimes, with the generous support of the Government of Japan. The event focused on countering sanctions evasion, proliferation financing, and emerging threats, including cyber-enabled risks, in Southeast Asia.
The workshop brought together over 20 representatives from ASEAN Member States, including officials from government agencies, financial authorities, law enforcement, customs, and the private sector. Discussions emphasised regional cooperation, operational coordination, and effective implementation of UN sanctions frameworks.
Watch the highlights from the workshop and learn how UNICRI continues to support robust, coordinated, and effective sanctions implementation across ASEAN countries.
