On 19 January 2023, within the framework of the European Union’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (EU CBRN CoE) Initiative, the Regional Secretariat for Central Asia held a meeting to discuss the development of the draft Chemical Safety Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting was part of the technical advisory activities requested by our partner country, the Republic of Uzbekistan, to support the elaboration of this new law.
The purpose of the Guidebook, now available in Ukranian, is to provide police and civil prosecutors, and relevant investigative agencies, with guidance to support the successful prosecution of incidents involving the deliberate use of a chemical or biological agents. The Guidebook aims to provide awareness and insight into the current and emerging challenges related to the investigation and prosecution of such crimes.

Within the framework of the European Union Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE) Initiative, the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) organized the CBRN CoE Academy, which took place at its headquarters in Turin from 26 to 30 September 2022.
Another regional project aimed at enhancing chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) safety and security in the SEEE region has been successfully completed. The project 67 (P67) entitled “Strengthening CBRN waste management capabilities in South-East and Eastern European countries” was funded by the European Union (EU) within the framework of the CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative (EU CBRN CoE).
